Growing Up Pentecostal Short Thejesusculture Confessions of a pentecostal kid. i am a “pastor’s kid,” or a “pk” according popular church parlance. but not just any pastor’s kid. no, i grew up in the home of a pentecostal preacher. i guess that makes me a “ppk” – a pentecostal pastor’s kid (trademark pending). pentecostals were, at least during my adolescent and teen. October 17, 2013 by amanda conquers. i grew up on an orange pew in a small pentecostal church. i grew up with tongues speaking and large women running aisles whenever the spirit fell. we called each other brother and sister. i looked forward to my weekly welcome from brother sid who always had a smile and a werther’s original to share. I totally owned it and joked about it when the topic came up. "i go to podunk pentecostal church. i'd invite you but the snake handling part tends to scare people away." they'd ask if i'm serious and i just smile and wink. but honestly, i didn't care. i've never really been the kind of person who worried about fitting in with the crowd. He became a born again christian at the age of 7, and started preaching at age 16. stephen’s unique journey includes planting twelve new churches and serving as a pastor in three different evangelical church bodies: church of god, assemblies of god and southern baptist. he has also been a guest speaker in 500 local churches, representing more.
